Up Next on the Bench
I ordered a Semroc Pittsburg Space Command Infinity. It’s a 2 stage clustered kit. Has anyone else built this kit? I’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be out of work for a couple of weeks and hope to be able to work on it while recouping.

Good luck with the cancer treatment. Hopefully they caught it early.

Seems that they did. Had a Gleason score of 3 on both sides. I’m scheduled for surgery on Monday.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery. I have the PSC Infinity, bought it because it was such an unusual design. Assembly is pretty much straightforward. The booster has a streamer recovery rather than the usual tumble. As I recall, the instructions were missing the streamer attachment procedure, but you should be able to figure it out. I wound up attaching a short length of Kevlar thread to the booster forward centering ring and tying the streamer to that. Notified Randy at erockets about the omission (about two years ago), don't know if it's been corrected. The booster stage also has the thrust rings glued in the rear, presumably to facilitate stage separation. And the booster centering rings have extra holes in them, like a baffle. Also presumably to aid sustainer ignition and separation, i.e. vent holes.
Wish I could say it flies great but I haven't flown it yet! Other rockets are ahead of this one in the queue. |

The PSC Infinity was/is a kit designed by one of our club members here in Pittsburgh, Mike Hardobey. The story behind the creation of the kit can be found here:
http://www.psc473.org/Newsletters/Issue158.pdf The PSC Infinity would not exist without Mike's creative impetus. But it must also be said that the kit would not have been possible without the kind and generous support of Carl, Sheryl and Bruce at Semroc. Great friends, and a great experience still warmly remembered.

Thank You for posting that. I was curious as to how it came about.

Here's a photo of my finished PSC Infinity, sans decals. Seems I got distracted by another project once I got to this stage. I suppose I'll have to put those decals on one of these days.
