Early 1970s Alpha Starter Kit: $306 on Ebay
This one was a surprise to me:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Estes-Model...cvip=true&rt=nc I'm not a super huge Estes collector, but not exactly sure why this set went for the price it did. About $306 final bid. I guess it is a somewhat more 'deluxe' outfit, what with paint and all, and it does appear to be complete and in fairly good shape for it's age. But over $300?? Earl

This one has to be a nostalgia buzz gone mad. It's the exact same one I got for my birthday in 1977. Someone with deep pockets might just have a fervent desire to relive a specific moment in time.

I got on unused deluxe Alpha starter kit on ebay on a second chance offer when the winning bidder didn't pay. Under $20 shipping included. It even had the dried up glue pack, all the paint, the 1973 catalog, and a pack of citation motors.
