Ping Pong upscales
Been looking at more of James P's designs as upscale targets. Other than styrofoam balls which I think might be hard to fill/finish, what other hollow, light, plastic sphere sources are there?
Thanks!

How about those hollow plastic balls used for children's 'ball pits?' They are kind of soft sometimes. Also, plastic soft balls, baseballs, etc. A walk around a Wally Fart sporting goods dept. of Toy dept. might help with some variety?

I would say find a Michael's or Hobby Lobby and start wandering. We do that when we can.

The SmoothFoam http://www.smoothfoam.com brand of styrofoam ball has a smooth and hard outer surface. It does have a seam along the equator that would have to be removed and a small hole at one of the poles which is unlikely to be an issue if you drill it to insert a body tube or you use that as a gluing point. The Hobby Lobby stores carry them.
I like to build 1.67 upscales and the 2 1/2" ball is a perfect counterpart for a 40mm ping pong ball. Bill

Plastic eggs are a good source. We used to take two l'eggs containers and use the bottom (hemispehrical) sections to make Sputniks.

Go to Ebay, under "search" type in "clear plastic balls". They come in many different sizes. I used them for the crew compartments on my BT-80 and 4.5" Josie And The Pussycats In Outer Space models.
