Default Happy Birthday RMR

Today 9/9/09 is the 20th anniversary of the starting of rec.models.rockets, the grandfather of internet rocket forums.

Here's the email Mike Jungclas sent me 20 years ago that started it all:

Bob - I can't even find emails that came in last week and you can put your hands on one that came in 20 years ago! My hat is off to you.

Thanks Bob for the historical note. It probably should be displayed in the Digital Rocketry Hall of Fame.

It's also our 20th wedding anniversary.

I still have my copy of Mike's classic kit guide I bought off of him in '98. That was/is a great resource.

Was Compuserve Modelnet not around at this time as well? Or shortly thereafter? The Conpuserve Modelnet Forum, moderated by Doug Pratt, was something that in the 1200-baud days was the premier forum for those of us that paid 25 bucks a month for 5 hours of compuserve/thenlater internet access. I am wondering when that forum was started as well. I seem to recall I was on that one well before RMR, but I could be mistaken.
