Looking for BARCLONES in the wild
I'm trying to update our Wordpress blog, and I'd like to know which BARCLONE designs have actually been built and flown? I am aware of a few besides the ones I've built, but I need to find out what additional models are out there.
If you've built one of the many designs we have listed, please give a reply here and describe your flight experience with it. Thanks in advance!

Cloud Tickler
I found this thread from last year and was shocked that no one had replied. With all the BARCLONE designs, no one else out there has taken any from pixels to reality? I was in that group until today. So having ordered parts for a few a while back, I went down to the shop and assembled the Cloud Tickler. This is from the original design posted a few years back.

Shamefully silly question, but, has it flown?
Nice build! Any idea which way you'll go with the finish?

Has not flown.
I also have the parts for the Nightwing, after that is built I'll heat up the garage enough to paint them (current OAT in the 40's). Have either of these been built previously that you are aware of? Nightwing will be flat black. Your original .rkt file was all white with a gold nose. This is what I"ll do: [IMG] |

No, just had to think about it... How about using the French Aerobatic Team pattern? That way, if the stability isn't exactly right, you can still claim authenticity from the resulting flight profile...

I have built and flown my "SkyBreaker". Flies great but you have to reinforce the triple tubes due to their length. Given another go at it, I'd also do the fins in basswood and make them TTW.
I have also built and flown my "Long Dart". Flew straight as an arrow at launch, but the rear-ejection failed and it became a spear! Has since been repaired and will fly with conventional ejection the next time. Fins are delicate and should be reinforced or done in basswood. I don't know if I ever submitted it, but I also designed one called the "Double Barrel". Silly name, but a great rocket. It flew pretty well until only one engine lit and it cartwheeled into the ground and smashed up. I may rebuild it at some point in the future but for now it's being used for parts.

Nice set of designs, Dale! That "Double Barrel" looks great climbing out. I can see, though, how a single-engine-out could cause instant trouble. If you feel like it, work that up as a RKT file and post it.
BTW, which way did it start cartwheeling? Toward the dead engine, I'd suspect. If only we could do tubes on an angle instead of just along the centerlines...

Thanks, I loved that rocket. I'll have to rebuild it sometime. Yes, it did cartwheel towards the dead engine. It was pretty heavy with all that fin area at the bottom, and originally the vent holes were too small and I blew out one side of one of the engine pods. If I rebuild it, I may try to either cant the engine pods or something to allow for a larger vent hole. Here's a build thread from RocketReviews.com Here's the RockSim file Here's a video The second launch is where the vent hole problem surfaced. I used two D-12 engines and one engine mount blew out completely and it came in tail-first. I found the engine mount believe it or not and eventually repaired the hole. It flew one more time successfully before the final crash.
