All I ask is that they be willing to put me out if I caught fire.

Actually there were two videos. Apparently some bird came by and reset it for me. The first one shows a lot of hanging around. The second one is REALLY cool. Lots of hanging around AND nightfall.
The first one is STILL downloading to YouTube.

Took two tries, but it finally worked. Now that this can be seen by everyone, there's a question I'd like to ask. Does that seem like a 2 second delay before the ejection charge to you?

Well.....the NAR cert data says that the average delay for an Estes B6-2 (in the samples that they tested) was 1.53 seconds. That seems about what you got.

Put the boost/coast section of the video back in your editor and slow it down and either count frames or watch the time stamp seconds to confirm.....

It seems about right to me. Remember that a B6 is only under thrust for 8.5 tenths of a second. Launch was at 11.xxx seconds and ejection was at 14.xxx seconds into the video. Considering that Estes ejection times are almost always shorter than advertised, that's pretty close.

(Heavy sigh.) I guess it's called B6-4 Field for a reason.
Anyway, if the weather cooperates tomorrow, I might have something cool to upload. I guess it also depends on my nerve holding out.

Has anyone looked into some kind of harness or rig to eliminate that "frantic spinning around shaky cam effect" that rocket camera footage often suffers from during recovery?

Maybe if the camera was in a separate payload section?

I think in my case this is caused by the field restrictions that I fly under. The B6s barely give the rockets time to get moving before the ejection charge fires. I won't be quite so limited at NARAM, so I'm hoping for better things there. I'll also be flying some larger rockets, which might help.

(Oops. Missed that "during recovery" part. )
