Default Dipped igniters

Today I finally had all of the elements come together. I dipped the Estes starters in the acetone/ping pong ball mixture, then in the black powder that I finally found at Wal Mart yesterday. I'd hoped to sneak up to B6-4 Field to try them out, but as I type this it has started raining. There's always tomorrow.

You can always test-fire a couple in the garage or even a fireplace.

I've been using Chris Michielssen's method with great success. Fabri-tac and 4F BP.

I have been dipping Estes starters in the acetone/ping pong ball mixture, too. Recently I have added some Quickdip mix to the goo and it has worked well. DARS does a lot of outreaches with scouts and other groups. Always have some of these igni...starters on hand. Went though almost 20 at one launch. I dip them far enough in the mix to coat the two parallel sections of the "item" to help insulate them.

As long as it is NITRATE (Nitrocellulose) dope. Regular Butyrate Dope when dry is actually a retarder to combustion, not an enhancer.
