I don't have quite the list of others here, I did about 13-14 of the K kits as a kid.

I thought I still had a surviving one, the Saros. Turns out mine had to be a renumbered 1254 kit, since I bought it in 1975, and just checked the 1975 Estes catalog.

Here is a picture of my 40+ year old Saros. I would love to see Estes bring this one back, and maybe an upscale as well. Had one of my favorite nose cones of about any kit I ever built, with maybe the Recruiter as a close second.

Default Saros

The Saros was one of the very few FNC rockets I ever liked. It was very easy to build, and wound up looking 'LTV Scout lite' after decals.

Estes later, in '80 I believe, used the same plastic parts from the Saros and made the Nomad. That looked entirely dorked, as it used full length BT50 and 20 tubes for the two sections. Kind of ruins the 'neat scale-y' factor.

Problem with such unique parts, especially as a set thereof, is that you/Estes would have to re-use them in other rockets, and typically wind up with 'dorky' models. Hard to use the same exact PFU, adaptor, and NC and not more or less 'copy' the original design....

If you or anyone else here has an opened Saros or Nomad kit, our resident 3D printers ("Raygun" [Kevin Cespedes, see: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/cesp...0#more-products ] and Boyce Aerospace Hobbies http://boyceaerospacehobbies.com ) could easily re-create the plastic nose cone, transition, and fin unit. In fact, they could 3D print *better* replicas of those parts--the nose cone could be one-piece instead of the original lengthwise-"split" two-piece one, and ditto for the fin unit and the transition (I forget whether the original transition was a two-piece or a one-piece unit). Also:

I agree; the Nomad was ridiculously long (they already had the Cobra 1500 and Mean Machine Superroc kits...), and with its small fins, I wouldn't be surprised if it was susceptible to roll-pitch/yaw coupling instability.

Looks a lot like an Indian Agni I or II missile...
