Default Estes Aerospace Club decals ?

Does anyone offer decals (preferably waterslide) of the Estes Aerospace Club rockets ? I would like to clone the Viper 0820 I had received as a member many decades ago.

I was fortunate enough to find a box of goodies from my youth several years back. Although no rockets were saved all of the instructions of kits I built were.

Thank you

Check with Gordy at Excelsior Decals. I think he used to have some and still might.

Did any of the Viper kits have water slide decals? I've had a couple and they all were stickers.

Not that I was ever aware of but I was hoping maybe someone did copies of the originals in waterslide.

Decals are easy to make yourself. The decal scan is available on JimZ. Waterslide decal paper available from Micromark and many other places. If you want to be more true to the original kit by using stickers, print onto label paper available at any office supply and many big box stores. I used waterslide decals when I rebuilt my Viper.

So did I, but I lost it before I got it painted. If I knew where I put the decals I'd offer to send them, but that was in 2004.

OK, I dont own a printer or have access to one.
What type of printer would you recommend for printing on decal paper - Laser or Inkjet ?

Anyone have a preference brand and model they have had good luck with ?

Thank you for the reply's.

I home print decals quite often. I use a HP Inkjet so I have no opinions on a laser printer.
Home print water slides are different than kit decals. Soak times are typically longer
and sliding the decal off the backing isn't as slippery as kit decals.
Black ink is not as opaque and can look dark gray on a white background.
Home print decals are more translucent compared to kit decals.
Black is better on darker colors.

Here's some blog pages that might help:

I use an old HP 6940. I use regular ink, but set it at high quality or photo quality. I get opaque blacks and colors. I'll include a photo to show you how good and opaque my blacks are.

The only issue with doing your own is you can't print a white decal. You can paint a white background or you can buy white decal material. I found the white decal material is so translucent that a white decal becomes pink on a red rocket. That's unacceptable for a manly Red Max!
