Default A covey of capsules

Well, they are going to do it. Revell is going to bring back the Mercury/Gemini pairing in 1/48. Means that there is a source for smaller Mercury Redstone models, and slightly larger Gemini models than I presently build. Also means that for a little while I can get away form the vagaries of ebay pricing on this kit. MSRP is $17.95

And so near Christmas too...

And another thing - the Revell 1/48 Apollo C/SM, LM, and SLA is also due out soon.

The Mercury capsule is 1 9/16th across the heat shield, while the Gemini service section is right around 2 1/2 inches. Given that the Mercury capsule used an adapter section to fit to the diameter of the Redstone, you could probably get away with 1 1/2. That would be a section of BT-58 for the Mercury and a BT-80 for the Gemini. Both are going to take some playing with. Oh for a Series 15 and 25 tube!

A 1/48 scale Merc Redstone will be 1.458" for the airframe OD.

A 1/48 scale Titan II will be 2.500" for the airframe OD.

That's great news. I've been wanting to do a diarama of a Flex wing Gemini landing but those eBay prices are ridiculous.

Been hoping this one would be re-released! Time to think hard about a 1/48 Saturn V now ...

Don't forget your Real Space Mercury and Gemini conversion/accurization kits.

And...Revell Germany is releasing the 1/24th Vostok and Gemini. Some say late December, but since that is now I would guess early 2012.

I think that Gemini scales out to be a 5.5 tube. I saw one of our NIRA members fly that on (I think) twin F or G motors for a beautiful flight. A few flights after that, he unfortunately pranged it. . .

I have already seen Vostok kits in hobby shops and do not think they were old stok.
