Default New BMS Clone of the month is out

Hey, Did I get to scoop something?

The new BMS Clone of the month is out and it is the BB. (As the emails says, do we need to say more?)

Come in several different configurations.

Looks like a great deal on an old classic.

I sent a message off to Bill informing him that the "Click here to order" link is not working in the email he sent out. I also told him that the original motor mount tube length was the standard 2.75", not 8.5". You can view the original K-23 Big Bertha plans here:

http://www.oldrocketplans.com/estes/estK-23/K-23.pdf

I believe Vern must've re-designed the kit later to use the stuffer tube to get more reliable ejections.

Thru-the-wall fin mounting and Laser cut Basswood fins are nice upgrades

The 24mm motor mount version for $12 is a great deal plus you get an extra 16" of airframe to use on another project.

I wonder when Bill will add his Bomarc COM to his list of kits available. I missed that one!

Yeah, this seemed like kind of an odd choice until I read the particulars. This is a nice deal with the upgrades. I think I'll be building one and possibly picking up that set of decals that Phred designed.

Guys, I don't mean to rain on the parade (I really like Bill's clones) but this is not a clone of an OOP kit. The Big Bertha is still in production. I can't imagine Estes will think that's OK.

And if one of the manufacturers here did that with a kit from Flis or Semroc or Squirrel Works or Sunward or Thrustline or Quest, we'd all be pretty upset.

I was thinking the same thing.

The "Clone Kit of the Month Club" info page says "All kits that originally had decals will come with Water slide decals matching the originals."

Since Bill makes mention to some features of the original "BB" in his clone info I wonder did the original kit come with decals? If not, then I guess he won't supply any .....

And yes that set of decals that Phred designed would be the way I'd choose to finish mine

I put an email into Bill last night to request information on some parts but I'm leaning towards the 24mm BB version. SEL and others have made mention to using the foil lined tubes BMS offers and I'd like to purchase and cut up some of the 29mm foil lined tubes for motor mounts in my next EnerJet clones.
