Default Looking For Two New Estes Checkerboards

I am looking for two particular Estes checkerboard parachutes in new (mint) condition............

8" in Yellow/Black with the Estes oval at centre and zip code (that is, Type 2), and

18" in Orange/White with the stylized spaceship at centre and no zip code (Type 1).

I need these to round out my collection. I can buy, or trade same parachutes in different colors. If anyone can help me out please post here or PM me. Thanks.

Joe

About what year (or years) were these chutes made? And what kits used them? I can look through my stash, but I need a reference point on where to start looking.

I believe the type 1 were made up until about 1966 or 67. The type two then took over and went until the supply ran out in the early seventies. I believe the Midget used an 8". Not sure about other kits. The 18" was used in larger diameter kits, so maybe the Thor Agena B or the K-39 Sat V??

The JimZ site lists plans and you could get more info there. I'm not expecting anyone to rob from their kits.

Actually, the K-39 used a 12" parachute. However, the (K-37) Scrambler and (K-38) Avenger used the 18" chutes.
