If she starts launching them, hide the credit card.

My wife is the other way. Now that she has built a couple, she won't launch them any more. She is afraid they will get beat up and not be pretty afterwards...

Hmmm...could use those for Bastille Day, too! :-) What kits are those, or are they paper model rockets?

I'm glad you asked that question my fine four legged friend, and even happier you like them.

Those happen to be two prototype Starport Sagitta Bolts. A 13mm minimum diameter three parallel fin, conical nose cone, streamer recovery, beginner kits which as soon as my day job allows me, I hope to have directions written and finished and then ask Gordo to give me some prices on decals (which aren't on the prototypes).

They do quite well in a smaller field, say baseball or slightly smaller on up to 1/2A engines. They can use more powerful engines but the emphasisis here is on smaller fields in the larger city.

Stay tuned.

Bernie

Bernie, that's an auspicious beginning, to start with a rocket kit that shares its name with a constellation (Sagitta the arrow--that celestial connection is good sympathetic magic). Please PM me details of these when they are available, as I'd like to buy a few, and "The Red Couch" store next to my apartment building might be interested in carrying them. Also:

On windy days on grassy (or soft dirt) flying fields, they could use nose-blow recovery (sans streamer) to land within the field boundaries. In addition, the Sagitta's conical nose cone could be used for a Sport Scale 13 mm kit of the ISRO (Indian) RH-300 sounding rocket (see: http://indiainspaceworld.blogspot.c...ng-rockets.html ); the silver-painted nose cone of one of your Sagitta prototypes reminded me of the bare metal finish on the RH-300's conical nose cone and payload section.

How very astute of you to recognize the connection. The rest of the story is the fact that I was born under the sign of the Archer, Sagittarius, and that one story has it that the constellation Sagitta, (the arrow) was shot from the bow of Sagittarius. Indeed if one "follows" the flight of Sagitta backwards it would seem to originate from the bow of Sagittarius, and maybe is aimed at the eagle in the sky Aquila.

The bolt is a smaller missile than an arrow and is often fired by a crossbow (now if only I could design a launch pad along the lines of a crossbow or even a bow) and indeed this rocket is a smaller version (13mm) of the another design, the Arrow, which is for 18mm engines.

Stay tuned....
