The next time she comes over I?ll hand her a homemade tin foil hat and tell her: Quick! Get inside! My dihydrogen monoxide detector just went off!

I find it ridiculous that there are actual MORONS and NUMBSKULLS that buy-in to this total CRAPOLA.

Water injection was a typical "cheat" used to increase horsepower on diesels and farm equipment back in the late 60's and 70's... even on some cars and trucks. Inject water into the intake air and it vaporizes and increases the density of the air charge, and when the fuel burns, it expands the steam vapors and increases the cylinder pressure on the piston. Same thing I suppose in a jet, denser air exerts more pressure on a turbine blade as it would on a piston. Water injection certainly isn't a new thing-- some WW2 fighters even had it...

Water injection was/is used on WWII aircraft such as the P-47 Thunderbolt. R 2800s rock! Bob

I would assume it didn?t require a LOT of water to achieve the desired effect. At 8+ pounds per gallon water is relatively heavy especially for an aircraft to have to lift it.

Well,
At ~ 8 tons fully loaded takeoff weight, a few gallons of water didn't phase the P-47. Bob p.s. gasoline is ~ 6.1 lbs per gallon.
