Default NASA Image of the Day

https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/iotd.html

I really love this part of the NASA site. They show all sorts of pics from Hubble shots to historical figures to rockets!

I used to run the RSS feed on one of my sites and they would show you a thumbnail of the image as part of the feed. They stopped that a couple of years back and you actually have to visit the site to see the pics now.

I love the pic from yesterday - Soyuz rolling out on the train. If you click this image to go the original article, be sure to click on -that- image for the full size pic in all its detail.

I'm painting my soyuz right now and that image will be very helpful. It's much better than the photos I've been trying to work from. Thanks for posting!

Anyone notice that the locomotive has whitewall "tires"?

Also, the flatbed under the capsule has yellow walls. Dunlop I guess.

It never ceases to amaze me how the color of that rocket varies from picture to picture. The color is supposed to be a Russian Navy blue-gray but in this picture and many others, it has a distinctive green tint. I could totally see painting a Soyuz in an FS green range color like Testors SAC Bomber Green 34159 based on this picture. I have always thought that the Testors Euro 1 Gray 36081 that I usually spray is a little too dark and not blue enough.

I have a partially assembled Voskhod; may have to try green . . . .

Vogue tires have a whitewall and a thin yellow wall. Cool looking tires. Had them on my '78 Buick Regal Limited in the early '80s.

Some may think those Vogue brand tires look cool.
Performance-wise they are terrible.
Put any power to them and they hook about as well as a steel RIM on wet asphalt.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.

Like I said, I had these on my mint '78 Regal Limited, not my '73 Chevelle SS.

The live launch on Youtube made the booster look more brownish than the green color in the NPOD photo. Of course it is a night launch, which doesn't help color accuracy.
