Ho, ho . . . ho?
In the Soviet era, families celebrated New Years with many of the trappings of Christmas, including a decorated tree and gifts and a red-suited guy named Grandfather Frost.
bOING-bOING listed a site of greeting cards from the era, many of which have aeronautical themes. I really thought this one was cute. Spaceships! Fuzzy forest creatures! Toddlers in space suits! Santa knock-off! Girl dressed as a snowflake! http://www.mazaika.com/postcard/big/hny0470.jpg |

Your topic line remided me of "A Christmas Story" (which was on numerous marathons the past few weeks). You'll put your eye out, kid.
I don't feel so bad about hijacking a thread in the Free For All section ;-) |
