Default So, how big would the LV be?

Received a notification from the Ecardmodels.com website regarding a new scale offering.

Four (a pack) 1/2A3-4T. That would make the system about 6"+ diameter.

I would suggest deploying the tower and parachute cover at apogee and have it hang down from the heat shield on a longish line, about 75% to the outside edge at one point to simulate reentry.

Jerry,

1/12 scale, the same scale as what is being offered in the paper model, is what I built and flew at the World Championships in Slovakia in 2012 (pics below). It required 4 D12's to fly safely, as can be seen in the video below.

A build thread on TRF details what Sandman and I did to build our models.

The paper model being offered looks to be beautiful, and the boost protective cover and launch escape system could be flown, but would have to be considerably beefed up.

Jim,

Thanks so much for posting this link. I ended up buying one and all I can say is the detail is truly astonishing. I decided to buy it because it looked like some of their LES detail was very good and I wanted to see how they accomplished it with a paper model. I wasn't disappointed. Unbelievably detailed and clearly the most modeling you will ever get for 18 bucks. If you build this whole model the hatch door alone will take a couple of weeks. Wow.

Thanks again,

Steve

I bought one the day it was released.
If you're interested in seeing the development and a couple of build threads, I can post links that will help get through the rough moments!

It took over three years to design, build and create the instructions. Ken the designer shared everything when designing it.

When it was first listed, here is a thread I started here at YORF: http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/show...ighlight=apollo

My internet is slow, have issues posting photos, very glad when Luke took the time to post a few!

A customers build thread here: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/...dule-build.html

The designers build thread here: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/...ule-1-12-a.html

Other designs are also being created, Ken has been working on the rover, has a very interesting Astronaut model, and several other famous aircraft designs. Other designers are working on the LM, CSM and other rockets.

I was happy to post those pics...

Actually it is setup to be made as individual models. Each set can be built in any order and then added together for the final.

Plan on taking my time when I build it, but will be at least one year from now before I start. Doing designs part time for a local Architect, after my normal work. Taking all of the free time...

Agreed! Far more involved than the White Wings I build.

So at 1/12th scale, it a foot in diameter. A 1/12 Saturn V would be ... 30(ish) feet tall?

I'll stick with my 1/360th Saturn V for now
