The model has now been given (4) sanded coats of sanding sealer and then I attached the dowel strake to it's mounting strut. The Sea Sting is finally ready for primer!

The Sea Sting has now been shot with gray primer--followed by white primer. Now I can see the flaws (and there are many.)

Time for some hooch. Good night.

I hope my Shrox Skonk Wolf turns out half that good. I have a plan pack and parts - not the new Apogee kit.

I bought two Shrox plan Paks right in the midst of the sale to Apogee. Talk about odd timing.

I have not built either model yet, but plan to start the Skonk Wulf soon. I also ordered the Ibis Plan Pak.

The decals included don’t look too bad, but the person who handled the order (not Shrox) included some extra decals because there were issues with print quality on a few individual decals on the sheets (and which he fully admitted to, which was appreciated.) I have not used them yet but I typically clear coat old “homemade” decals anyway, and I guess I better scan them before I use them, just in case.

I thought the instructions were incredibly well done. I’m glad to hear the Apogee kits use quality components, which is of no surprise. However, I’m not particularly thrilled with the idea of getting one someday and using stickers. Looks like scanning them And printing your own is a good idea.

I'm back from Towaco, NJ now and back to the Sea Sting.

Before I left I painted the model with (2) coats of gloss white enamel. It's had many days to dry and the model is completely safe to handle.

After marking the desired areas out, I handed the model to "The Vixen" and she hand painted the red portions with MM Guards Red.

Now for the decals/stickers.

Since the model is completely gloss white the decals should be OK. Each decal is actually transparent and isn't white-backed, so if the decals were lain over almost any other color they would practically disappear. The large black section at the rear of the belly scoop was supposed to be painted in dark gray, but I instead enrobed the area with black adhesive film.

I'm on the fence about putting the shark mouth and eyes on the PNC. The mouth has no teeth--which could be easily remedied, but still the mouth and eyes look rather "cartoony" (IMO.)

I think I'm going to omit them.

Looks fantastic. How lucky you are to have a missus who can hand paint so precisely. Reminds me of a TV show I saw of a Japanese girl hand painting delicate facial features on a doll. Wish I could do that: no masking!
Any other future Shrox kit builds? I have a Skonk Wulf in the build pile: 7 color paint scheme! Yikes!

"The Vixen" and I thank for the compliments!

Another Shrox designed kit that's in my build pile is the Flis Kits Decim-8.
