Default Estes (Centuri) Chuter 2!

Really felt like building something this AM so......here is a few pics of the build so far!
Punched out and shaped the fins....made up the motor mount, notched it for the kevler string..glued on the fins, and put together the nose cone section, then took a pic of the basic rocket minus the LL and motor mount.... a fun build of a simple, nice lookin ol model rocket from long ago............! Will post a pic when its finished!

Looking good! Just out of curiosity, are you going to put the little re-enforcment bits on the fin roots?

When I built mine, I decided against it and instead added strakes (to help them stay on), ala the Payloader II. Wish I hadn't now. But, no matter. One of my last orders to Semroc included the laser-cut fins, tubes, nose cone and tube coupler. As soon as I get some rockets painted, I intend to build that one.

This seems to be one of those rockets that doesn't have a lot of current day admirers, but I think it's pretty nice design and a Centuri classic. What other rocket has fins like that? I dig it.

What are you thinking about for a paint scheme?

Hi Foamy, yeah i left those little squares off...i just didnt see any real increase in strength by using them, and it makes prepping and finishing the BT and fins a pain in the BUTT! Epoxy and microballon fillets should work fine for additional strength, i think.....! Centuri seemed to have a thing about rockets with very small fins I.E. the Javelin, Snipe Hunter, Chuter 2, and a few others, and i always thought they all looked kinda COOL! Im going with the paint scheme on the picture on the label in the kit......i always liked the "old school" paint schemes.

Bill, check this out:

http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot...r-two-fins.html

It might explain the small reinforcement squares and shape of the fins.
