Default NARAM-65 Red Max Day

My association with the Estes (Der) Red Max kit dates way back to 1972 when I purchased a boxed Citation series version of this kit.

My Red Max model was a faithful flier at a nearby elementary school and flown many times on B4-2 motors.

Since that time the original Red Max model has gone in and out of production several times.

I built a new model of the original Red Max about 10-15 years ago. I also built a Mini Max and a Thrustline clone of the original Der Big Red Max (Only available in a starter set from 1978-1982).

In 2022 I built an almost stock model of the Pro Series II Der Big Red Max and last year I built an upscale 3" version of the original Der Big Red Max.

I am planning to fly the last two models for the first time at NARAM-65.

Estes released the Red Max T-Shirt a few weeks ago. Of course, I bought one.

Hmmm...

I currently have five ready to fly versions of various Red Max related models and a Red Max T-Shirt.

This gave me an idea.

I am announcing an unofficial Red Max flying Day for NARAM-65 (Day yet to be determined). Everyone bring and fly your Red Max models at NARAM-65 and if you have Red Max attire wear it on that day.

Maybe we should speak in funny German accents on that day too.

Let me know if you plan to attend NARAM-65 and we will coordinate the specific day for the Red Max fly-athon.

Hmmmmmmm.......

The DRM is not something I often grab to fly, and I don't think, even with the new wheels, that we'll have room for the MDRM for this year's NARAM-65 trip....but I'll have to think about what to do here. I do have one regular DRM in flying shape, and two PSII Big DRM kits on hand.

Avis and I got Alpha sweatshirts. I will think about the DRM shirt.

I think I have 26 flyable Maxes. Even if I was making the drive, I doubt that I'd have room for all of them. I guess I could just wear the same clothes all week.

I try to have some sort of 'theme' about some/all of the rockets I take to fly at a NARAM.

Same here. Fins. Nose cones. Occasionally paint. Below average craftsmanship.

I plan to bring my Der Saturn Max (and maybe a few other Maxes). It made its debut flight at NARAM-60 in Pueblo.
