Well, the very first Aero-Dart was featured in the 1962 Centuri catalog. Here's my clone, based on the catalog picture: Think you can get that out the door by next year? |

I was hoping no one would notice the original version!

Jay, Thanks for sharing this. Quite an interesting article. I only had a few Centuri rockets (Laser X, KC-6 Space Shuttle, U.S.S. America, and Space 1999 Eagle Transporter) and their Powr Pad launcher when I was a kid. Even tough I had mostly Estes rockets, they were special to me then and now. I'm currently in the process of refurbishing an original Centuri Recruiter. Here's a link to an online historical Centuri display I found and want to share for the Smithsonian: http://160.111.252.58/collections/c...showrecords=all

On the Smithsonian link, I found the 1962 Mini-Max motor interesting. It was only 10 short years later in early 1972 I made my first complete model rocket motor prototype with thrust, delay, and ejection. It was an APCP 29mm E20-4. Jerry |

I think Carl is afraid folks will now insist on a Golden Aero-Dart in time for the 50th anniversary next year. Note that Semroc carries all the parts you need to EASILY clone the original Aero-Dart. I had to have BMS make the cone; everything else I had to make or adapt. The tube is a mailing tube that was heavily filled and sanded. |
