Paul,

I hate to admit that "just the other day" was 5 years ago this March!

Enjoy!

Since the NASM's Micron kit is the earlier version with a balsa nose cone (as is Semroc's "Retro-Repro" Micron kit), Semroc already has a "helical checkerboard" roll pattern decal (from their "Retro-Repro" Snipe Hunter kit, see: http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts...s.asp?SKU=KV-51 ) that would be historically authentic if they also included it in their Micron kit.

Curious that I found the same "helical checkerboard" roll pattern decal in a ('69 is what is on the kit card) Centuri Javelin kit. The kit art has the straight/up and down stripes.

Interesting...it seems as if Centuri's kit packers sometimes "just threw whatever #7 roll pattern decals they had in stock in the kit bags." They should have added a notice saying "Style may vary slightly" or "Decor scheme suggestion" under the kit card illustrations. :-) Also:

Since Semroc is interested in offering historically accurate "Retro-Repro" kits, this means that they could include the helical checkerboard roll pattern decal in both their Micron and Javelin kits and they would be historically authentic reproductions. (I have nothing against putting that decal on either of these rockets, as it is an aesthetically pleasing design.)

I'd GLADLY pay for a Golden Athena or Aero Dart, but the Aero Dart would HAVE to be the Enerjet 1972 version.

You will have to remind me in 2021 or so for the 50th anniversary of the Enerjet Aero-Dart!

My Javelin had a #10 roll pattern in it - diagonal stripes that overlapped about 1/2". I think in 1965 they only had #10 decals

Dale, was your Javelin's decal this one (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...64/64cen34.html [second from the right at the top, just to the left of the color stripe decals])?

The Javelin illustration in the 1965 Centuri catalog (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...i65/65cen8.html ) shows it with a short, straight-lines white roll pattern decal on a black overall paint scheme. (In 1969 [see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no...a/69cenp30.html ], the Javelin's decor scheme was changed to the familiar multi-colored [longer] straight-lines roll pattern decal on a white-painted body tube.) The large "diamond checkerboard" decal that was shown on page 34 of the 1964 Centuri catalog (see the first link above) doesn't seem to have been made for any particular tube size (at least the description for it didn't say so), but it looks like it was big enough to have wrapped around #10 body tubes.
