About 10 years ago I was also in a financial bind and thought the same thing, only the kit in question was the original Centuri UFO Invader (unopened, still in-the-bag), as I had another kit like that but opened. So I put the unopened one up for auction (it was in another model rocketry forum; sorry can't remember the name) and asked for a starting bid of $11.50 (or something like that). By the time the auction was over a few days later, the winning bid was very close to $100. Not much, but the extra cash did come in handy and I still have the opened UFO Invader kit.
