Default Estes 651 Catalog 1966 No Copyright

I thought I should post this here because I'm betting there's a few of you guys who have wanted one of these for your collection for a long time. The 'no copyright' version was a pre-release and is pretty hard to find..............I know how long I looked for one. So if any of you are interested, please see my Ebay auction by clicking this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...:MESE:IT&ih=016

Please remember that any member of this forum will receive a 10% discount off the winning bid price by sending me a PM from this website and requesting it.

Joe

Heh, so hard to find that I didn't know they even existed till you put them up for auction!

Yes, Scott, these were an early printing to meet demand, but Estes didn't have the catalog set up in its final format at that point, so they were significantly different from the regular release that came later (like, almost every page). One interesting note...............you are probably aware of the fact that in early '67 Estes mailed out 651 catalogs with a small insert (often taped to the cover, darn, but who knew these would be so collectible!) stating that the 1967 catalog was not ready. So presumably those catalogs would have been from the second printing, right? Not necessarily so! Vern, never wanting to waste anything, didn't throw away the last of the pre-release catalogs, and also sent some of those out in early '67. And I know that because the catalog at auction is one of them, with the insert taped inside at pages 13-14!

This is some great info. I think I'll move it to the history section once the auction ends.
