Default Fsi

What is going on with FSI? Seems like their re-entry into the market is coming along rather slowly.

He posted recently, but only said "wait and see" and that the website was a placeholder.

I'm thinking pure vaporware like Quest Thunderjets, Q-Modeling returning, Enerjet/Quest 18mm D motors, and Estes Cylon Raiders/Black Hole Cygnus Probe Ships.

They are obviously focusing on the Australian market based on the photos in the TRF post.

Maybe their whole thinking is upside down then?

More like DOA given the length of time since their grand announcement...

Like I've said before and I'll say it again... I just IGNORE all these "grand pronouncements" of "coming SOON!" nonsense because rocketry vendors are VERY hit and miss when it comes to actually following through...

Seen more than enough vaporware and non-starters that eventually amount to nothing to give ANY credence to these big announcements anymore... I just BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT.

Hopefully they'll come through. Time will tell. I'd love to see FSI make a comeback...

It'd be nice if some of these rocketry companies would spend more time actually getting their plans to fruition rather than just making grand plans and making big splashy announcements...

Ill... more like on life support...

Later! OL J R

I come from an engineering background.
We ALWAYS operate on an UNDER PROMISE and OVER DELIVER axiom. That is critical axiom #2.
Marketing and Sales would do themselves a HUGE favor to follow same. Otherwise they end up LOOKING like the FECES-Heads we all know they actually are.

Critical axiom #1 is aimed toward executives/management/financial/accounting consisting of the 3 following words: GOOD, FAST, CHEAP; You can pick ANY TWO but can NEVER have all THREE.
Most executives are literally too F'n STUPID to understand a concept this simple. NO JOKE.

The top reasons for this is very strong regulatory overreach so all good plans die in DC over a regulator gone amok.

Also the size of the market is shrinking not growing so there is a headwind. I have made specific suggestions to reverse that, but it is typically met with mocking, gainsaying, and plain old personal attacks. The market shrinks anyway.

Another lesser issue is the reduced capitalization of the manufacturers themselves. This has been made publicly visible by AT announcements, and since they own or operate Quest now it is reasonable to believe it has similar issues.

FSI on the other hand has a new pile of capital, has recovered old equipment, and has already shown reworked products on its Facebook page. Not sure if any of it is available yet, but the products do exist on some level. I for one am wishing them the best.

One thing we can also see is what happens when someone is able to overcome TRA club policies by getting CAR certs, overcome regulation by having military contacts, plenty of capital, and multi-jurisdictional compliance skills. CTI has released a very wide range of products, is not stopping now and is even releasing products this year on the popular lower end with 24mm. So it could be part of it is culture too.

Jerry
