I only have one kit I won't build, but I guess I understand the desire to collect and never open. My sacred kit is the 2010 reissue of the Estes Saturn V. Bought it at the Estes tent at NARAM-52, then met Mike Dorffler, who was in attendance (and certainly knowing it would be his last big rocket event). My friend (who also bought a Saturn) and I were invited into the tent to meet him. It was a great moment. He signed both of our kits, and we chatted for a minute or two. Sadly, he passed away about one month later. I feel lucky to have met him.
I have perhaps 150 kits, and a pretty nice, and varied, selection. God willing, I'll be able to build them all. But I think they should be built and flown. One thing I do collect that have great sentimental value are old Estes catalogs. I still need to find a 1964. That was my first catalog. I came close but the auction pricing just got too insane in the final moments.

mojo,
Thanks for the heads up on the catalog. I am not sure what ever happened to mine but it must have really been worn from all the time I spent flipping its pages. I also vividly recall perusing the 1966 catalog -- the first color catalog. I have one of those in really nice condition.
