Default Estes Maxi V-2 Kit Question

Does anyone know if the Maxi V-2 ever came with balsa fins and a fin template?

I saw the listing below on ebay. The kit has balsa fins with a template to cut them out. The seller doesn't provide the kit number.

Here is the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...:MEWA:IT&ih=020

I ask because I have multiples of both the 1267 and 1952 kits and all have plastic fins.

Never came with balsa fins. They obviously lost or destroyed while building the original 2 part vacu-formed fins (or does one survice as the "temp-let"??).

That's what I thought, but I needed a double-check. That temp-let didn't look like an official Estes temp-let.

I've ended up being wrong more than once, like the time I thought an auction for a stake, rod and blast plate was just something that some guy made up until someone told me it was the system that came with the Dude kit.

Thanks for the confirmation!

That is an old " Maxi V-2".

You can tell by the box.

I may have some extra fins someplace that someone sent me.

Ummm, kit # 1947, I believe? I have to check when I get home. I have an Estes V2 with balsa fins. Hasn't been opened yet. For E9's IIRC

The Estes "MAXI" V-2 is based on BT-101 tube (4 inches in diameter). It has never, ever had balsa fins. Not the D12-3 version sold in the 1970's and not in the recent re-release for E9 motors.

The mid sized BT-80 based V-2 used balsa fins. That is not the rocket being auctioned.

Does eBay allow NAZI products to be sold?

No, not a search, but a full reading of the listing policy and what is prohibited and what is permitted.

This rocket kit and the box art are not authentic historical artifacts. In eBay's eyes using their rules, it will be banned (if reported) because of the "artwork" on the box.
