Default Evel Knievel 1938 - 2007

Daredevil Evel Knievel died on Friday November 30th in Clearwater Florida.

As we all know, Knievel is known for his daring jumps, and. especially the attemped jump of the Snake River Canyon in Idaho in his Sky Cycle.

Centuri introduced it's version of the Sky Cycle around 1975.

Evel Knievel was 69.

At the time the Centuri Sky Cycle kit came out, I wasn't interested; now I wish I'd gotten at
least one. I remembered trying to follow his attempt to do that famous jump across the
canyon. Knievel was certainly an American icon. RIP, my friend.

I looked for Jay on the ESPN coverage of the Snake River Canyon jump. Dumbest thing I've ever seen. Did he have monkeys plan that for him? They said that the shipe was "part rocket, part motorcycle". Now admittedly I'm not the sharpest bulb in the drawer, but what part of that thing was a motorcycle?

Let's just honor the late Mr Knievel , who cares what his vehicle looked like, at least he was willing to give it a try.

Having broke practically every bone in his body, it's a wonder that he was still around at 69.

May he rest in peace.........

It had two inline wheels.

ESPN 2 is currently running a Rememberance special "A Touch of Evel" in place of the regularly scheduled repeat of the 2006 World Series of Poker.

It was done a few years ago by Marty in TRF.

He upscaled the Centuri kit to a BT-80 main body.

I was in the process of scaling up the Sky Cycle, I had all the parts cut out and pre - assembled, using a BT-70 as the main body.

I was going to submit this to Estes as part of my prototypes, but, when I was no longer needed, the project was placed on hold.
