Two dollar shipping and 40% off thru midnight Saturday 12/3

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/store/it...x?ItemId=187108

I have a few coupons printed and I'll be checking my local HL Saturday to see what I can find in person but I haven't checked their Estes stock in a good while. Last check they had pretty good stock on motors and most of the regular kits they carry.

Only one or two pegs on the board were empty.

I posted that on the 40% hobby lobby thread too... I ordered some E9-4's, I think the total was $13 something and that seemed pretty good to me.

The closest one for me is about an hour drive so I do not make it very often, but they do have a fair selection of Estes stuff.

The QCC Explorer is $12.89 at Hobbylinc. Shipped by Priority Mail, it would cost me $1.91 less than the same kit from Hobby Lobby with the $2 shipping.

http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/est/est3221.htm

If I buy a QCC Explorer I will build it (mostly) stock.

I LIKE the Estes Little Joe II. I like it a lot!

(I just found this thread, again).

While Bob's story has an unusual background, most of the kits that were discontinued were due to low sales. I personally discontinued off a number of kits in the 1996-1998 time frame, and never heard a peep about most of them going away.

Of course, I was a die-hard rocketeer, so I knew better than to take away a kit that was much loved. And, if I was a little too enthusiastic about killing a kit, Mike Hellmund would usually "correct" me. <g>

One thing we did find out is that scale kits would sell well in the first year, then tail off significantly. It seemed to be a better strategy to sell out an initial product run or two, then discontinue the line, rather than hold slow moving inventory for a number of years. When the kit was re-released, it would sell at far higher number than the previous couple of years combined.

So, the lesson is, if you see a kit you like, get it now. It likely won't be around forever.

(I hope you got your Pro Series II Nike Smoke....)
