Yuri's Night 2018
Tonight's the night.
So go launch something Russian and post some pictures. Weather permitting, this weekend, I will launch my new-built Scrambler. First up will be Egg Yuri and if unsuccessful, Egg Al. I've been waiting almost a month for suitable weather . . . . There will be pictures.

Put a small jar of Russian caviar in the payload of your Scrambler and launch that. Or a couple beets. Borscht would be too messy.
In the past, I'd say launch a little airline-sized bottle of Stoli vodka, but that stuff isn't even Russian anymore. Now made in Latvia.

Latvia was a part of the USSR, so it still fits with Yuri. He probably flew for Russia in his heart, but he officially flew under the Soviet flag. I believe he grew up between Moscow and Latvia.

Well then launching a 50mL Stolichnaya bottle is valid.
Much less messy than a potential cracked raw egg. I always used HARD BOILED eggs in the past to avoid the "busted egg in capsule" issue.

I thought 50ml Stoli was in glass bottles, doesn't that violate the safety code or something?
Or you could just do what the cosmonaughts do; stop the bus and take a leak on the way to the launch pad ; (https://www.livescience.com/33185-y...-faq-facts.html) I always launched raw eggs in skin tight Trojan Magnum Eggstronaught suits, protects both the egg and rocket. You can knot it and double it over for extra protection. Cute little trick gets a lot of laughs from the TARC teams!

If you have Facebook, check this out. Scratch-built Vostok. About 1/30 scale. Core cluster of four D12s. F15 in each strap-on. Awesome! https://www.facebook.com/groups/mod...42166979160168/

MPC's Vostok kit (including the new-production ones) even included/include a countdown card with the Russian names for the numbers (I can't recall them, but I do know Japanese countdowns, from 10 to 0; that would be a nice additional feature for scale kits of foreign rockets, to include a 10 --> 0 [or 5 --> 0] countdown card in the language of the country of origin).
