Jan 21 TTRA launch!
What a GREAT time we had! The G-kids had a drag race with thier Semroc Starfires and it was close! The GRAMMY One went up great on a C6-7! I on the other hand have a few ships to repair ( shoulda used a C6-3 in my old Jupiter-C instead of a C6-7! Just ran out of air!) My E powered Wac Corporal went up to a speck and landed just fine but suffered some damage to the top of the body tube apparantly at ejection, but is fixable.....its just going to be a little SHORTER! Chris, Mike and Lonnie, it was real good to see you guys again, and hope to see you SOON! Bill

Shorts in January? Where's TTRA? The grass is dead but the trees don't look like evergreens.
BTW, looks like everyone enjoyed the afternoon.

My photos from the January launch are in the TTRA Photo Album at RocketReviews.com:
http://www.rocketreviews.com/januar...aunch-6564.html I have a new app on my smartphone that records, and timestamps, short audio recordings. It's the perfect thing for me to use to record the names of rockets and flyers so that I can caption my photos. I forgot to use it. So ... I'd appreciate it if those of y'all that were at the launch would visit the RocketReviews.com link above and post comments describing the rockets you recognize. And I've made the album "public" so you can upload your own photos of the launch if you wish. Thanks! As I hope you can see from the photos, it was a terrific day for flying. I flew my Estes Shadow clone on a old Aerotech G motor. It huffed and puffed and finally took off on a really nice flight. I missed getting a good lift-off photo because of the chuffing, but I did get a photo of my grandson (future veternarian/astronaut/pirate) helping me recover the rocket: -- Roger Last edited by jadebox : 01-23-2012 at 05:22 PM. |

Be sure that you don't mention that the temperature was around 70 degrees F, the winds were under 10 mph most of the time, and that for much of the day the sky was bright blue with puffs of white clouds! -- Roger |

At the TTR launch, Brian Urban flew a beautiful X-15:
Just after the above photo was captured, the X-15 made a right turn and flew horizontally for a while - looking like a real X-15. Then the pod ejected and it made a lazy circle back to the groud. Right after that, a Sparrow flew ... ... and it followed almost the same trajectory! Straight up, right turn, and horizontal for a while. We were also treated to a couple of M-motor launches, a couple of rockets flying without nose cones (only one by design), some CHAD-staging excitement, and several cool boost gliders. -- Roger |
