I always used 1" KITS LIKE SIZZLER AND 1.3" KITS LIKE COMET FOR SCHOOLS.

A bit more but far easier to build and flies to a manageable altitude in a school field.

Hey a LEM model with big clear fins is so 1970.

Estes has had mini-quadcopters. They could make a bigger Quad that looks like a Lunar Module, within size reason for a maybe (?) practical-to-sell R/C model (One thing to produce one, a different thing to make one that flies OK, isn't crazy expensive, and would sell enough to justify the production run).

I could, um, give some technical advice on the basics, though a mass produced model would be fabricated totally differently.....

Actually, I don't seriously think Estes would do that. I have daydreams that some R/C company will do it for 2019, but won't be surprised if nobody does.

But I am excited to see whatever the new Estes does.

And am comforted that Estes is in good hands. The first owners to know (and really care) about this hobby since Vern sold it to Damon around 1969-ish.

Agreed, strike while the iron is hot. With the popularity of STEM and the resurgence of interest in space thanks to SpaceX, Blue Origin and Orion/SLS, I am hopeful that the new owners and their involvement in TARC will bring about an educational renaissance at Estes.

As well, I would like to see the new Estes introduce small, easy to build scale and especially semi-scale models of contemporary rockets. We were fortunate to grow up with models of the Mercury, Gemini and Saturn rockets (as well as several missiles and sounding rockets) of that time. We have some terrific, high quality scale kits available on the market but they are usually too large, too complex or too expensive for the beginner/intermediate rocketeer. With the demise of Dr. Zooch, I think it is important for Estes to offer 18mm semi-scale kits of the Delta, Atlas, Vulcan, and SLS (and hopefully private rockets like the Falcons and New Shepard) to keep the upcoming generation excited and inspired about future programs.

Maybe we should bypass Estes and directly use SpaceX and Blue Origin. They have 20x+ the mindshare. Let Estes benefit from the surplus.

This is the Best News that I have heard about ESTES in the last in he last 50 years .
the Lankford's own a company that has contracts with the U.S .Military.
Believe Me, my distant relatives in Michigan also contract for the U.S. Military and they could
sneeze more more money than what it would take to budget ESTES.
Also the Lankford's also love the Hobby, gee I would love to see the Lankford's offer Vern Estes
and Honorary Presidency just for prosperity.
No more profit only motivated managing, Owners who Love their Company.

Langford, not Lankford

Boeing bought Aurora Flight Sciences, so the Langfords do not own Aurora, but they may have a lot of cash or Boeing stock.

And John is still CEO and President of Aurora, so whatever the deal was, I am sure that he did and is doing very well.

We should be able to submit suggestions that are sane and logical for corrections to existing products.

For instance: https://www.estesrockets.com/rocket...2092-mongoosetm

We need the booster stage to TUMBLE and not streamline in perfectly stably and hit the ground or a person in the head or a fine luxury automobile.

it used to tumble long ago in an earlier lifetime.
