I'm not a big punk fan; however they seem to be the start...

That's their most famous song. They were a huge influence on all hard rock, not just punk. Outside of Motown, Detroit (or the general area) had a huge impact on hard rock with the MC5, Alice Cooper, and The Amboy Dukes/Ted Nugent.

Ol' Ted was about the loudest concert I ever attended, and I've been to some loud ones back in my high school/college guitar days. We were on the floor right at the stage (local venue), no ear plugs. He had five to seven Marshall stacks on stage (can't recall the exact number now some 34 years later) and just wailed away on his blonde Gibson Byrdland hollow body guitar.

My ears rang for two days straight.

Some months later that same year we saw Van Halen at the same venue; had the same spot on the floor right in front of the stage. NOWHERE near the same audio energy as Ted.

Ted just liked blastin' till his ears bled.

He may have actually been playing through all those stacks, though he probably only had one or two mic'd for the P.A. Most of the time when you see a wall of stacks, the majority of the cabinets are unused or even empty and are only there for set decoration and sponsorship purposes.

BTW, he still loves the Byrdlands, but the vast majority of his set list is played on a couple of Les Pauls. Yes, I'm a Les Paul guy...what would you expect considering my avatar?
