Thank you--and Chris--for jogging my memory regarding the nose cone fit (and I, too, often have that same problem with remembering information, but *not* where I read it!). Also:

I thought that what better way to get an answer than to put forth my findings here, were most of the wisdom is located .

In regards to the kit, I believe it is the nosecone's size which has altered dramatically, since the main body tube and the engine mount tube still have a complimentary fit.
*Nods* The nose cones in some of my Taurus-1 and ASP-1 kits are also swollen. Before Carl died, Semroc made some 15 mm diameter Miniroc nose cones (the 5:1 tangent ogive nose cones for the MPC ASP-1, Astrobee D, Delta Katt, Super Star, and Taurus-1 kits) and elliptical nose cones (the one used in MPC's Pipsqueak kit) for me, and Sheryl cut lengths of the Quest 15 mm tubing (which I'd bought for them) to go with the nose cones. In addition:

I'd love to see someone re-issue the Miniroc kits. Not only do they look sharp and fly very well (the Taurus-1 [one built without the "just for looks" strap-on boosters] and Pipsqueak set 13 mm rocket altitude records, and the Super Star may have as well), but their slight increase in diameter over BT-5 mini motor rockets (the 15 mm tubing is stronger than BT-5, too) enables parachutes as well as streamers to be packed inside the Minirocs. Plus, allowing the BT-5 size motor mount tube to protrude 1/4" out the rear of the 15 mm body tube (and letting the motor protrude 1/4" from the BT-5 tube) makes it easy to secure the mini motor in place, by wrapping one layer of masking tape around the rear end of the mini motor and the protruding 1/4" of the BT-5 motor mount tube.
