Us Easterners have been watching our wide open spaces revert to woodland. Big fields are hard to find. I really like that 1977 Estes Catalog Starlab poster.

That would be great. IIRC, I made my poster by using a catalog image and doing a lot of photoshopping. It is just a bit fuzzy blown up.

http://www.oldrocketplans.com/pubs/...ter_resized.pdf That may be what I started with instead of the catalog cover. I remember spending a lot of time on it.

That is a great catalog cover (1971 catalog with Interceptor). A friend of mine several years ago talked about this catalog a lot. It was the first one he ever looked thru. And like many of us, ended up having a dog-eared copy from endless hours of thumbing thru that first catalog. I was buying Estes catalogs on eBay and found that catalog. I bought it for him and gave it to him on his birthday. I am sure he had a tear in his eye upon seeing it, and I probably would have had a similar reaction. For me it's the 1964, but eBay prices are just crazy when one appears. Another popular catalog for me is the 1970, with the Orbital Transport on it. I am currently finishing up a scratch-built Super Orbital Transport. I just put decals on it today, and will clearcoat tomorrow, one day prior to leaving for NSL. I'll post a picture of it on the NSL thread.

Update to the '71 catalog
The '71 catalog cover is one of my favorites. I finished an Interceptor E with one of John Pursley's wraps, and I felt a strong urge to recreate the cover.
I found the same background image on NASA'a photo archive, and I did my best to duplicate the lighting angle. I think it turned out okay..... File attached |
