Question Read vs. New display: Is there a user setting?

Hi folks,

Regarding thread title display:

If someone makes a new thread, or posts a new reply to an existing thread, I see that thread as being highlighted in bold the next time I visit. Good. That's what I would expect. But let's say I'm only visiting briefly and don't happen to click on the thread to read that particular new content yet.

Later when I return to the forum, that new content will have been unbolded... as in it looks just like stuff I've already read.

Maybe a more succinct way of saying it is that each time I log on, it's like the forum is assuming I want to mark everything read as of my last visit, rather than preserving the unread status for stuff that might have been new last time, but I didn't read.

Is there a user setting I may have goofed up? I looked at the options and nothing stood out at me.

I'd prefer everything to remain bold/highlighted until I actually read it.

Thanks in advance.

Marc

Scott can answer for sure, but IIRC, this feature isn't available in the version of vBulletin software being run here, and would require a newer version.
