Default Quest D5-6 In FSI/Semroc Penetrator

Been wondering what Kind of Performance I'd Get out of this one if I skipped the 18mm mount and Just Friction fit (with tape)....The Old FSI Kit lists The E5-6 as a recommended motor (but was probably due to the fact that that was all the delay that would fit

Any Ideas?

You'll get out-of-sight peformance! The D5-6 is great for these FSI clones. I flew a Viking clone (semroc parts) on a D5-6 3 times, and got it back twice. I didn't sim it, but I'd guess at least 1500'. Two recommendations - wrap the motor completely with tape or an old slit piece of body tube then friction fit - these motors get hot, sometimes burn through, and will bubble the paint. Second, use a streamer.

Thanks for the tip.....I figure it's a fire and forget deal.... but the thought makes me drift back to his youth where a flight like that would be "BIG STUFF"

Which begs the question: Nowadays, what would be the equivalent of a BIG STUFF flight?

The club in Champaign, IL shoots up to 3000, in that small park they run into trouble sometimes!

Be sure to include a note in it expressing greetings to the ISS crew. They will appreciate it.

Pack it with a bright, flashy metallic streamer and bring along extra spotters and at least one pair of binoculars. It...will...go...high!
