What I did on my S1b is I bought some balsa airleron stock at the hobbystore and lined up the leading edge of the fin to trailing edge of the airleron stock. The airleron stock has a taper which is perfect for the fin. After I cut back approximately 1/4 inch of the new fin and glued a flat piece to the rear section of the fin . Identical now to the built up fin from the Kit. I used finishing resin and glassed it with 3/4 oz fiberglass cloth. Now it is really strong and still lighter than a plywood fin . The built up fins seem are very fragile and have the starved look between the ribs. I also did it to my litltle Joe
