R/c Me163
A new R/C airplane that uses a rocket motor. It's not really a true rocket glider, it has an electric motor too. Still, intriguing....

Very cool but would rather see a X-1 in the same format instead.
The only condition I like to see 'enemy' aircraft is in a mangled/mutilated state from a 'shoot down'. The Me163 rocket motor could have an extra-load size ejection charge to simulate a "Z-stoff" tank-leak explosion.

I liked it when they hit the C6 motor for effect on take off. Then all I could think of is the complete RSO melt down that would cause at the club. The brush less electrics are sure getting powerful and the prop is just small enough not to look too horrible and more like a really big generator up front. Wonder how long the foam skid will last. Like the real one a hard landing will be a back breaker. I guess 18mm makes for a nice effect, is good for CG and can sell in Europe. Now we will see if a real American man will take one of these and put a real motor in it and fly it the way it was intended. Hopefully before some skinny Nazi gal comes along and shows him how it is done!

Looked like a JATO take off!

They should have named the Me-163 the Swallow instead of the 262 cause it looks like one manuvering in the air. That little beast looks fast in the video.

Instead of a C6-0 somebody should try an Aerotech 18mm SU D10. THAT would be a real JATO takeoff. A C6 most likely does little more than 'show effect'.
I think a D21/D24 may be a bit too much to be controllable on the ground but WOULD be a real BLAST-OFF.

3 lbs of thrust on a 2 lb airframe would be noticed, but it just doesn't last long enough to make much difference.

I have a couple of old FSI E6's kicking around here. Burn for 4 1/2 seconds! Maybe not enough oomph for the ground takeoff, but would look great in a high speed pass in front of the crowd.
