Default Scale data search tips

Hello All,

Two useful (and bountiful) tips--which I discovered for finding scale data on foreign sounding rockets, missiles, and launch vehicles on Google--involve searching in those nations' languages. For example, using the search terms "fusee sonde," "razzi sonda," "foguete sonda," and "cohete sonda" will bring up many websites on French, Italian, Brazilian, and Spanish (as well as Argentine) sounding rockets, respectively. Also:

Searching using the name of a nation's space agency (for example: "cohetes sonda de CONAE" [CONAE is Argentina's space agency]) or "fusee sondes d'CNES [or d'CNET]") will return far more websites than searches in English will. Searching using the names of the countries, such as "cohetes sonda de Espana" (for Spain) also pulls up many websites. The text of the sites can be translated by Google or on FreeTranslation.com www.freetranslation.com .

I hope this information will be helpful.

It would be helpful to download the best image of the rocket, then upload it to the forum. It is likely in 5 or 10 years many of those links will be broken.

I agree. I'll do that as I can, to the extent that I can (some of the pictures and documents are large files).

Well, pictures can always be downsized (or just take a screencap if nothing else using "snipping tool" on your computer) and documents can always be "summarized" (which is an ongoing project of mine for NASA "what might have beens" as well as other stuff I've gleaned from the net...) over in the scale section.

Sounding rockets isn't my forte but if you send me direct links to the documents or studies or whatever that has content worthy of "summarizing" I'll download it (if I can) and save it and summarize it at SOME point (I've got REAMS of stuff already that I need to do). I've done a few sounding rocket things over in the scale section...

It's not particularly hard to do, just takes a lot of time... and it varies how much of that I have to play with now and again...

Later! OL JR

Thank you--I'll do that. Tonight I uploaded to YORF (attached to postings) the model drawings (they're dimensioned with decor scheme data) of the Argentine sounding rockets from the Grupo Artax website, along with the text (which contains dimensions and performance data). I also just uploaded an INTA (Spain's national space agency) report on their INTA-255, -300 & -300B, and -100 sounding rockets, along with numerous links to material on these vehicles. I also have (from Jean-Jacques Serra and Roy Houchin, plus what I've found online) a lot of material on the French Belier, Centaure, Dragon, Dauphin, and Eridan sounding rockets, plus material on the British Skylark series of sounding rockets.
