Default Jay Hawk color?

I'm getting ready to sand and seal a Rocketarium Jay Hawk.

The question is: what is the most correct scale color to paint the model? Red? Orange? International Orange? Competition Orange? The instructions from the old Estes Pro Series Jay Hawk call for Krylon Mandarin Orange. Even if it's still available, I won't use "new formula" Krylon--even if my life depends on it.

Thanks!

Testors Competition Orange always looked the proper color to me for the Jayhawk.
I wouldn't use 'new' formula Krylon to paint a GARBAGE CAN let alone something I wanted a GOOD finish on.

Thanks GH.

I won't use New Formula Krylon either. It's called "Krylon" because when it ruins your project it makes you "Kry".

This is from a Beechcraft drawing but the color is just about illegible. My guess would be International Orange.

Dear Mr. Jeep, I to gave-up on Krylon when they changed to the can with the EZ Touch 360 Dial
spray valve. the valve suck's and so does the paint, clog city, spurts and splatters, JUNK.

I have been using the Rust-Oleum 2X ultra cover. all though this paint sometime takes awhile to
dry but the valve does not clog and I can spray the can all the way empty without a sputter.
Now as far as the Jay Hawk color: Chevy Engine Red-Orange or Chinese Red .
both colors have a good balance of red to orange
