The cancer-in-your-baby-powder flap seemed to reach its peak last winter. I quietly snapped up a bunch of bottles of talc; enough to last the rest of my life. Just as quietly, the talcum powder disappeared from the stores. You can still find it.

It's easily found, but not in baby powder anymore. It's still sold by auto parts (for lubing inner tubes), and for billiards. Both are unscented. If you don't have a local store that carries it, you can buy it online. I researched this a while back because I need unscented (no oils) talk for my hazmat dive suit seals. You'd think a hazmat suit would be immune to simple scent oils, but they will eventually break down the silicone seals over time.

Brodak is a small ma and pa company and they mix their own balsa sealer. It has been out of stock before. Brodak is really the only supplier besides Sig for control line balsa builders and balsa sealer is used in most finishing processes.

So, from your experiences then would you expect this out of stock situation to be a relatively short-term issue? I was about to order some Brodak sealer myself and give it a try, as I am about out of traditional old-style balsa fillercoat and you just can't get that stuff any longer. Earl

I bought the Brodak Sanding Sealer last year. Great stuff. I bought the 16 oz. can, and fill up an old 4 oz. Aerogloss bottle for ease of use. I also bought their butyrate thinner, although I have not had to thin the sanding sealer. Obviously it could be used for cleaning your brush, but I just use conventional lacquer thinner for cleanup.

If required, Sig Sanding Sealer works but has to be thinned one part thinner to two parts sealer.
