Bertha vs Baby Bertha
Can someone please answer a question for me?
Besides the length, are there any other differences between the Baby Bertha and the regular, full size Bertha? I know they are both BT-60 based and both have 18mm motor mounts. The fins appear to be the same shape but are they the same size? Thanks Les |

I built the Baby Bertha years ago. I lost it in a launch. I painted it baby blue and called it "Baby Blue Bertha" It was just a shorter BB.

I thought the Baby Bertha's fins were slightly smaller. If not, you are paying over $13 more basically the same kit, but with a longer body tube!
Seems like $24.99 for the Big Bertha is just a bit high considering the simplicity, and especially compared to other bigger and/or more detailed kits.

The Baby's fins are a slightly different shape and are made from 3/32 inch thick balsa vs. the regular Bertha's 1/8 inch thick fin stock.
I'll try to take a comparison picture tomorrow and post.... But yes this is another place where Estes' current retail prices seem kind of silly.

Actually, some time back one of the members here posted an extensive comparison of the Bertha/Ranger family fins over the years. They've actually changed a couple of times. Given that, I think swapping an 18" piece of BT60 and calling it a (full) Bertha is quite acceptable (and a darn good deal to boot).
