Default John Young passed yesterday

Comrades:

Sorry to report that John W. Young, America's oldest surviving astronaut passed yesterday. He was 87 years old. He flew the first Gemini, Apollo to the moon (twice, once as commander), drove the lunar rover and flew the first Shuttle flight. In later years, he was head of the Astronaut Office at NASA. A life well-lived.

Godspeed, John Young

That's really a shame... another hero gone. Won't be long and all the Apollo guys will be gone, even the early shuttle guys as well...

Makes me feel old...

Later! OL J R

He was the real deal. Very intelligent, absolutely fearless, and very sure of his own abilities.
