Default Rocket Cave

I mentioned at the first of the month in another thread that I was going to try to do something about all the rockets piled up everywhere. I've finally gotten around to doing something with some of them. If you notice, there is uneven spacing between some rockets. Those spaces are reserved for rockets in various stages of construction. There are a lot more rockets still stuffed away than I have in the photos. I've got several laying on the table waiting to be hung, but I thought I'd go ahead and shoot a couple of pics. None of my HPR stuff will be displayed. It is all in the shop.

I made no attempt to do a perfect job hanging them. I didn't bother trying to straighten the wire more than just running it through my hand. I eyeballed the mount points to put the nose cones even. They aren't even but are close enough. They don't hang down evenly, but since they are different diameters, it doesn't matter anyway. In fact, the only measuring I did was to mark 4.5" increments along the length of the wall. The larger rockets are 9" apart with smaller rockets at the 4.5" increment stuffed between them. It will look much more even once all the spaces that are vacant have been filled. Since I can't really paint right now, it will have to be this spring or summer.

Man, I wish I had a place like that!
And I want that tall white rocket hanging over the cable loops in the first pic...

That's a clone of the Centuri Enerjet Athena. You can get the needed parts from SEMROC. The wraps can be hacked from the SEMROC Orion, though I used some vacuformed wraps I got from Jim Neubauer.

Here's a few more pics:

Default Run out of room

tbzep,

If you run out of room, you can always send them to me and I'll display them for you.
I'll even launch a few of them for you....what a guy, huh?

Daniel

BTW, What size motor do you use on that Lava Lamp?

It's a hybrid oil/parrafin motor.

I'm reminded of the group pics in the old Estes and Centuri catalogs. You easily could make your own version

BTW, in the 2nd pic, that was great use of the Saturn V box art.

Thanks. Those are old Centuri kits I built when I was a kid, so the 2157 box art technically doesn't go with them. I've got the old boxes that I'd like to display if I can figure out a place to put them.

Default Launch pad?

tbzep,

The Interceptor and OT launch pads, Are they copies of the Nike Smoke or ESS raven and America kits?

They are from SEMROC. They are copies of a standard display stand that Centuri had.
