For the time being I have a spot to launch rockets, it is only 70 miles from were I live but I don't have to join a club and I can use my own launcher.....I don't like the multi launcher device at my club launch. It was a nice calm morning with high clouds min. winds. The first rocket was the newer Estes Interceptor built per the plans. The first flight the parachute did not deploy, static electricity and no baby powder, my fault. The rocket hit pretty hard and there was no damage. You cannot tell me these rockets have to be built with Epoxy, this was built with Elmers white Glue. She flew great on a C6-5 engine. The second rocket I flew was the newer Alien Invader on a C6-5 and she flew great. The next rocket I flew was the Phoenix Bird on a C6-5 and she also flew great. I flew the Super Alpha on C6-5, I guess I need to buy more C6-5 engines. The last 3 rockets were a little on the heavy side since i used primer only to fill the balsa and they still flew great. The last rocket was an older Estes Yellow Jacket flown with B6-4. Before the land is sold, I hope to fly all my rockets, no hanger queens here.

70 miles?

Wow!

I live in New England and travel less than 50 miles to launch a rocket.

What happened to your beach launch site?

No lost rockets! It was a great lauch!

I drive about a mile, myself. I'm on the edge of a small town, and the field I launch in most of the time is owned by a farmer just outside of town. It's a hayfield, so it's not available 100% of the time, but it is usually freshly mowed when I need it for 4-H.

Reminder that people CAN use their own launch pads and controllers at SCRA launches. AND if you bring many models, and they are all prepped, you can check them all in at once for that round (if using our club pads) or for whatever round you wish. Some folks check in a model for each round on their own pad, some check in for every other round if they do not have a recovery crew and they are flying high, and some have multiple "own" pads and check in multiple models for each round.

Next launch is Sunday, 22JAN2012. Stay away rain....
