Nice Alpha and tissue work on the free flyer. I'm just embarking on my first "stick and tissue " build myself. Did you50% use the 50%white glue mix for the tissue or airplane dope (hard to find these days)?

I attach the Tissue with 50/50 Elmers/Water because that is how I have always done it since the 80s. Now people are using UHU purple glue sticks and that is easier than 50/50, but I still use the glue mixture. I have posted a lot pictures on the Guillows Builders Forum in re: to covering airplanes, hope it helps.

Wow, scigs30 you are THE modeler.
I can only wish that my models came out as fine as yours. Good job man! |

Oddly enough, no more than a half an hour ago I put the first two pieces of tissue on my "first*" stick-and-tissue model, a Guillow's Cessna 180.
I used thinned Titebond. I have about five simple balsa & tissue planes lined up. Just taking a break from rocket building this spring. The pictorial builds by scigs30 and others on the Guillow's forum are a big help. * When I was around ten I asked for a model airplane for my birthday. A Guillow's biplane of some sort. I thought my father would help, but after a few hours he lost interest. I gave up in frustration. Bad memories. |

Good luck with your Guillows Cessna, she is a great flyer. Here is mine flying, sorry about the poor video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msk7hzzRAuA
One good thing about model airplanes, you can fly them the next day when you are done, model rockets are a different story. Especially here in California. Any way this will be another hanger queen until I make it out to the sands. Onto my next 1979 build. |

Wow, that Alpha sure looks sharp! thanks for the info on the glue stick. I have a Cadet, Messerschmitt BF109, and a Lancer from Guillows, and a Peck R.O.G. to build. I'm going to try both methods to see which I have better luck with.

Everybody knows you are supposed to stick tissue to stick-and tissue F/F models with either Clear Aero Gloss dope or thinned Ambroid cement.
None o' that water based junk is the right choice for F/F either. Fume up the joint and do it rite !
