Electron flew!
Hello All,
Although it fell short of reaching orbit (the reason(s) why is/are still being sought), Rocket Lab’s Electron launch vehicle demonstrated successful first stage flight, stage separation, second stage ignition, and payload fairing jettison. This was the first orbit-capable rocket—and perhaps the first liquid propellant rocket of any size—to fly using electric fuel and oxidizer pumps. It also inaugurated a brand-new orbital launch range, which includes downrange tracking stations as well as Launch Complex 1 at the launch site itself. Below are links to articles and videos on/of the maiden flight of Electron: http://spaceflightnow.com/2017/05/2...-reaches-space/ http://spaceflightnow.com/2017/05/2...for-first-time/ http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/S...race_9 99.html http://www.space.com/37003-rocket-l...alls-short.html http://www.space.com/36996-rocket-l...unch-debut.html http://www.youtube.com/results?sear...n+rocket+launch
