Default New field?

Zog called tonight while I was cooking dinner. (Zog was my flying partner for B6-4 Field-Fest back in October.) Several months back he told me of a field that he'd noticed down near where he works, which is roughly a 30 minute drive from my house. It's a large farm in the flood plain of the Ohio, and he knew a guy who knew the landowner. Sometimes these kinds of contacts don't bear fruit, but in this case it seems to have. Not only is the landowner open to letting us use it, he's intersted in watching. Seems he's never heard of model rocketry and wants to see what it's all about. According to Zog, this field is huge. He's never flown a D rocket before, and is looking forward to launching his Semroc Goblin on a D.

And looking forward to building its replacement! Better use that streamer, even in a big field.

That's cool, Bill. I normally fly in my pasture and the largest section isn't all that big. I haven't done it in a while, but every now and then around this time of year, I go out to a large cotton field a friend owns and fly a few bigger models. Of course, there is a compromise. Hard bare ground is more likely to damage a rocket than my plush pasture grass.
