What a shame... one of the last of the great heroes...
I didn't agree with most of his politics but you can't have anything but respect for the kind of man he was... the things he did, how he conducted himself. He was the one to inform RFK's kids that their Daddy had been killed after the 1968 California convention... He had become close friends with RFK and his family-- they all went skiing up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming quite a bit, among other things. If you've never read his autobiography, it's an interesting read and well worth one's time. He was the last of the Mercury Seven... we shall not see their like again. God speed John Glenn-- you will be missed! Later! OL J R

A true American hero. It's tough to see these Astronauts pass as I get older, but he was fortunate to live such a long productive life, and serve his country in so many ways.
